Founded in 2007 in rural southern France by Kate Papi (UK) and Oliviero Papi (IT), OBRA is an international ensemble devising hybrid multidisciplinary and multi-lingual performances, audiovisual installations and participative socio-cultural projects.

Au Brana is a residential centre for artistic practices in rural South Western France, dedicated to the support of independent and emerging artists, new and original research and pluridisciplinary performance.

Lovely to see students from the UK and our gascon neighbors dancing together (with very little shared language!)

Last night our dear friends and neighbors joined the students to share traditional dances and to eat together. And we sang together! And it was about 40 degrees!!!

It’s a big month at Au Brana as we welcome students from Northampton University to train with us. It was a huge pleasure to have our dear friend and long term collaborator Eilon Morris with us. It’s been too long since we have been in a studio together!!

We had a wonderful time performing Bubble at the University of Avignon yesterday. The fastest pack down ever thanks to the help of the lovely students! Thank you @ghost07_official for the photos and thank you @mastertcmn for having us! That’s all of our dates done for 2024 but we have many more to come in 2025!

Donc, le rideau est tombé sur notre première série de performances de Bubble @theatregrandrond. Merci à leur merveilleuse équipe pour son soutien et son accueil et merci pour tous ceux qui sont venus voir le spectacle. Nos prochaines représentations sont à Fleurance à 20h30 le 14 novembre et à Gimont à 19h30 le 16 novembre!

Over 4 weeks we had the great pleasure to host and teach 18 students from Northampton University at our centre @au_brana. They were wonderfully hardworking, generous and fun and it was great to welcome some alumni back. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience and thank you to @centrephotolectoure @circa.auch @memento_auch for sharing your history and exhibitions with us too. These fantastic photos are by @mia_quartino who joined us for a work placement

To celebrate earth day, here are some of the soil samples that Kate has collected as part of the project Sons Dessous Dessus, a three year creative project in collaboration with @nataispopcorn. Here are some of her first experiments with soil chromatography, following a brilliant workshop with @hfletch

Heureux d’avoir commencé les répétitions de « Bubble », la nouvelle création d’OBRA prévue pour fin 2024, en collaboration avec Mélanie Tanneau et Mattieu Ogier.
