FLEURANCE TERRITOIRES ILLIMITÉS
OBRA created a new participative theatre performance with 11-12 year olds from the public and private schools from Fleurance, a rural French town. The young performers volunteered to participate in developing language and physical material in response to the theme of the limits of personal territory; school life, home, village and their presence on social media. Young adults from L’IMPRO, a specialised educational centre for people with learning difficulties, also engaged in the conversation and their stories were shared with the young performers and integrated into a performance for a local public.
The performance brought together youths in a town that had not, and were unlikely to meet. The project allowed them to question where their viewpoints overlapped and gain a new perspective of their territory, both physical and virtual.
The project was commissioned in 2021 by the town of Fleurance with support from the DRAC Occitanie.
